Students today require more pathways that link education with careers and FE Jobs provides exceptional opportunities to students. Frontline Solutions is supporting 13 Accelerate ED design teams nationwide in expanding accelerated postsecondary pathways that align with regional workforce sectors and promote economic opportunities.

Rogers [8] identified many indicators of academic acceleration's success, such as mastery well above grade/age level in specific subjects, a preference for rapid learning methods, and personality characteristics which promote its implementation.

Pathways to Success

Our solutions involve supporting cross-sector efforts that aim to forge bridges between the high school, college, and work - efforts that blur the distinctions between these three pathways and help young adults discover paths leading them toward careers and economic mobility as young adults.

Our research highlights numerous indicators that can be used to identify students whose trajectories may be amenable to acceleration, such as precocity, being an independent learner, and showing an aptitude in the subject matter above grade level. Rogers' meta-analysis of subject- and grade-based acceleration shows these traits correlate positively with additional growth in knowledge and skills.

Exogenous factors are also essential in shaping accelerated scholars, and we found these to include access to resources, teachers' encouragement and support, parental involvement, and student mobility. It is important to remember that exogenous factors are dynamic - their interplay may vary as students join and leave early college entrance programs.

Career Exploration

No matter their grade level, career exploration is one of the most essential learning and development skills students can acquire. Career exploration entails exploring modern work opportunities available to them and the academic or skill-based preparation required for them.

Researching possible careers involves compiling a seed list. Research should not focus on jobs advertised by schools or trade associations as good fits; rather, its aim should be to gain an accurate depiction of each career's responsibilities and requirements.

Evaluation helps students analyze their research to gain a better understanding of their desired careers, potentially opening up new offshoot career paths or helping them realize that what seemed like an ideal choice may not be as appropriate as they believed it to be.

Work Experience

Accelerating Education Careers is a unique summer program that bridges the gap between academic learning and applying skills in an internship environment. We spoke with Carly, IBM Accelerate Program Manager, to understand her thoughts on why students should participate and what benefits can be expected from it.

Accelerate instructors implement research-based teaching strategies proven to accelerate student learning and content mastery across diverse student populations. Furthermore, Accelerate's learning management system tracks progress while instructors actively assist students to advance their education.

Accelerate instructors are responsible for upholding the school's brand and voice while working alongside the startup team to develop marketing campaigns to enhance customer engagement. Instructors must adhere to company policies, provide a comprehensive syllabus, maintain FBI fingerprint clearance status, and work remotely as needed; finally, they must also be available for business travel as required.

Postsecondary Education

Decisions regarding postsecondary education should ultimately rest with each individual; however, finding jobs that support families without some type of training or education post-high school has become increasingly challenging for Americans. Every student should read Education Blogs that are really beneficial for them.

At our foundation, we work to ensure students can access postsecondary opportunities that are meaningful in today's economy, including developing pathways leading to middle-skills credentials that offer career ladders and sustainable wages - while eliminating race and income as predictors of postsecondary success.

Accelerate ED involves supporting twelve design teams consisting of district and state leaders, higher education representatives, businesses, and community members who come together to design cross-sector initiatives that ease the transition from high school to college and beyond.
